Lights Shining in the Darkness

At the end of one of my favorite movies, the Dark Knight, Commissioner Gordon says "the night is darkest before the dawn". For the past few months I've been so curious about how this trip would benefit my life. I have been lost in dreams of what I will see and what I will experience.

Forty-eight hours ago I was preparing for the trip, trying to walk the fine line of being ready for anything, but not carrying any excess baggage. That caused me to wonder even more about just what I was getting in to. Now that I've been with the group for nearly 24 hours, I have seen their strengths and very clear purposes for being a part of this trip.

Now I'm questioning even more what role I will play on this trip, and more importantly, what role this trip will play in my life. There isn't as much excitement about the possibilities anymore. Now it's excitement for the unknown.

Having no idea of what I'll see or experience, no idea what I'll contribute, has allowed me to let go and let the trip lay in His hands. Just before His light shines in, it is definitely like walking in the dark.
