Pledge any amount to a well (Pledge must be mailed. See below for mailing instructions)
To fulfill pledges, please make check payable to Self Sustaining Enterprises - h2o nigeria and send to:
Self Sustaining Enterprises, Water for Nigeria 404, 4th Avenue, Mason, Ohio, USA 45040
Currently working on funding for a well in:
Village: Kisayhip
Tribe: Rukubah
GPS Coordinates: To be provided
Other facts: To be provided
Funding Status: Funded - $0.00 Need - $6,000.00
Q:How do you determine where the next well will be placed?
A: SSE-Nigeria receives many requests for wells, as the need is very great. To receive a well, a community must:
• Make a formal request
• Develop a community water committee
• Raise funds to have a geological survey completed
• Show evidence of a plan to address sanitation concerns in their area.
• Village Water Committee must have a maintenance plan
Once a village shows they are prepared, SSE will allocate funds and slot the well into the production schedule.
Q: What happens if a well is not successful, i.e., you get a dry hole?
A: SSE will guarantee a successful well as long as the geological survey indicates good potential sites. We expect about a 90% success rate. We will drill at alternate sites if the first attempt is unsuccessful.
Q: Will I be able to know what village/well I have funded or contributed to?
A: Yes. SSE will match funds to a particular village/well. As soon as total funding for a well is completed (currently $6,000.00 USD) notice will be given to the donor(s) of the name of the village, GPS coordinates, and any information available about the community.
Q: Won't some wells cost more than others? Why is the amount $6,000.00?
A: SSE has estimated the average cost per well at $6,000.00. Some will cost more, some less. The average per well will cover all the costs of mobilizing and drilling, operation of the enterprise in Nigeria, administration and on-going development of the project from the US, replacement cost of equipment in the future, and "dry holes" when they occur. SSE is a not-for-profit organization, therefore, any surplus realized will be reinvested in drilling capacity or support other SSE projects.
