What is h2o Nigeria

h2o nigeria is operated by Self Sustaining Enterprises (SSE), a not-for-profit, faith-based, charitable organization in Mason, Ohio, USA. The project provides clean water and training in sanitation and hygiene within the rural communities of Plateau State, Nigeria. We capture the passion of caring people to bring the love of Christ to people in dire need in tangible and sustainable ways.

Action:  Working with Nigerian regional, national, and international non-governmental organizations with similar goals, the SSE-Nigeria Water Project team aligns with community and church leaders and interest groups (women, youth, farmers, pastors, etc.) to develop local water committees. Empowered by community leadership, the community well(s) are properly sited, a maintenance plan is implemented, and sanitation and hygiene training is carried out to the local people.

To establish the community's ownership of the well, the community will be required to participate in the process through funding small portions of the project such as the geologic survey, pit latrines, and providing labor where possible. SSE will drill, develop, and test the well prior to handing it over to the community through the established water committee.

Vision:  Every person in the rural villages of Nigeria will have access to clean water for drinking, cooking, and bathing and every community will have training and sanitation planning for improved hygiene.

Mission:  Operate a profitable well drilling enterprise providing clean water throughout rural Nigeria and channel excess funds to support programs in healthcare and education in rural communities.

Board: The h2o nigeria project is an enterprise operated under the umbrella of SSE-Nigeria. The SSE-Nigeria Board of Directors is appointed by the Board of Directors of SSE International based in Mason, Ohio, USA.
