SSE's model includes the creation and operation of small businesses in International locations. These businesses will provide employment, produce valuable products, and take advantage of the natural resources of the area. Very simple businesses requiring very little startup capital are being created to improve the quality of life for individuals and entire villages.
Corn Grinders. SSE provided the funds to purchase two corn grinders that are now in use in Liberia. The cost of these corn grinders was about $400 each. Businesses are now operating in Liberia where corn is being grinded locally for a village. No longer do men and women need to travel for miles to grind their grain. An
additional benefit is that this grinder can now be used to mill grain for other local villages. The result has been an improved quality of life, self-worth and an economic hope for the future.
Bore Holes for Water. SSE is funding the digging and installation of a "bore hole" that will provide the main water supply for an entire village near Jos, Nigeria. Most villages gather water from streams or small wells. This bore hole will allow the village to have a reliable local source of water for many years.
Sewing Businesses. SSE is collecting sewing machines that will be forwarded to international locations. These sewing machines will provide employment and business opportunities for dozens of workers. Products produced with these machines will be sold locally. SSE will give individuals the ability and means to startup their own operations where they can produce and market their own products.
A new or used sewing machine can be used by a women to provide a livelihood for her entire family.
Computer Training Equipment. SSE is currently collecting new and used computer equipment that will be sent to international locations where computer training is possible. Individuals are currently being evaluated to help run these businesses in countries that can assimilate the technology.
Poultry, Goats, Pigs. It is amazing to see how much benefit can be acheived by providing animals for people to take care of. SSE has started a program to provide chickens, goats and pigs to qualified owners. The goal is to provide animals that will provide milk, eggs, and meat as well as multiply into home-based businesses. SSE has been sucessfull in getting individuals to "sponsor" the purchase
of animals for international locations. Mechanism are being put into place that will allow SSE affiliates to monitor the success of these operations.
Fruit Trees. To support SSE's future juice processing operation SSE is contracting with nearly 30 young boys in Jos, Nigeria. These boys will be responsible for the cultivation ofover 400 mango, orange and other fruit trees. They will be paid a fair wage and will be given the opportunity to take on more responsibility if they succeed with their initial tasks. These trees will be planted on the nearly 700+ acres of land
currently owned by SSE in Jos, Nigeria.
